EDTA, or ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid, is a chelating agent widely used in industrial, foods and medical fields. EDTA is synthesized by the alkaline cyanomethylation of ethylenediamine by means of sodium cyanide and formaldehyde. The process of chelation stabilizes the metal ion by preventing it from chemical reacting with any other substances. EDTA is produced as several salts, notably disodium EDTA and calcium disodium EDTA.
EDTA 2NA is white crystalline powder, soluble in water, almost insoluble in ethanol, ether, its aqueous solution pH is about 4-5.Disodium EDTA, also known as edta-2na, is a good complexing agent in chemistry. It has six coordination atoms, forming a complexcalled chelate. Pure EDTA 2NA is an important kind of complexing agent.
EDTA-4Na is an important chelant of metal ion. It is used as additive,activator,clean water agent and metal ion masking composition for cleanse industry,polyreaction,water treatment,color photo sensitive and paper industry.
