Microcrystalline wax is prepared by solvent deasphalting, solvent refining, solvent dewaxing, refining, molding and packaging of vacuum residue. It is mainly composed of n-alkanes, isomeric alkanes and cycloalkanes with long side chains. Microcrystalline wax contains between 31 and 50 carbon atoms. The molecular weight of industrial microcrystalline waxes is 450-700. This is a pale yellow crystalline shape and has a higher melting point and viscosity than solid paraffin.
