Sodium tripolyphosphate is an inorganic substance with chemical formula na5p3o10. It is a kind of amorphous water-soluble linear polyphosphate. Sodium tripolyphosphate has two crystalline states: type I (high temperature type) and type II (low temperature type). The difference lies in their different bond lengths and bond angles. Their chemical properties are the same, but the thermal stability and hygroscopicity of type I are higher than that of type II

The main uses of sodium tripolyphosphate are 1, chelation of heavy metal ions; 2. Degumming, emulsifying and dispersing dirt; 3, to prevent the detergent agglomerate; 4, with a large alkaline buffer.
1, the chelation of heavy metal ions: in the washing process, heavy metal ions in the water can be combined with detergent molecules to form insoluble metal salts, reduce the washing ability, or even completely lose its role. Therefore, it is necessary to add chelators to detergents, which can turn the heavy metal ions contained in the water into harmless substances. Sodium tripolyphosphate has a strong chelating effect on heavy metal ions, which can seal them and eliminate their adverse effects on washing. In addition, it can capture the various metal components contained in dirt, play a role in dissociating dirt in the washing process, but also as a soap synergist, prevent soap grease precipitation and frost.
2, the role of dirt degumming, emulsification and dispersion: dirt often contains human secretions (mainly protein and fat substances), as well as outside dust. Sodium tripolyphosphate can swell and dissolve proteins in dirt, thus making it unsticky. Promote fat emulsification; Dispelling solid dirt; It has a strong emulsifying effect on lubricating oil and fat and can be used to adjust the PH value of buffer soap.
