Sodium hexametaphosphate is one of the most widely used water treatment agents. It is essential for industrial water, domestic water and wastewater treatment. Soluble in water, aqueous solution is alkaline, 1% aqueous solution PH value is 9.7. It can be gradually hydrolyzed to phosphite in water, which gives it a good ability to complexate metal ions and can form soluble complexes with calcium, magnesium, iron and some other metal ions. It was only used to overcome the previous water phenomenon, and has been slowly developed to be used in many other fields, such as water treatment, food processing, mining, drilling, printing and dyeing, refractory industries.

Sodium hexametaphosphate can be used in dye production water, titanium dioxide production water, printing and dyeing water, color film copy clean water, chemical industry water, pharmaceutical and reagent production water softener and industrial circulating cooling water treatment agent.

 

Sodium hexametaphosphate can be used as corrosion inhibitor, flotation agent, dispersant, high temperature binder, dyeing agent and so on. It is also used in surface treatments, such as rust inhibitors, detergent additives, cement hardening accelerators, pulp dispersants to improve permeability, and washing appliances and chemical fibers to remove iron ions from pulp. In the petroleum industry, it is used to prevent rusting of drill pipe and to control the viscosity of mud during oil drilling.
